U.S.-Norway Energy and Climate Forum

U.S.-Norway Energy and Climate Forum

Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey R. Pyatt led the American delegation at the U.S.-Norway Energy and Climate Forum alongside representatives from the Departments of State, Energy, Interior, Commerce, Defense, and the National Security Council (NSC) on October 30.  The two countries covered a range of topics including European energy security, support to Ukraine, renewable energy development, and carbon management.  Norway, which was represented by Petroleum and Energy Minister Terje Aasland and his delegation, is a global leader in the energy transition and has been a valuable partner in the United States’ efforts to secure global energy markets amid Russia’s brutal and illegal war against Ukraine.  The outcomes from the Forum, captured in a Joint Statement, will help inform both countries’ priorities for COP28 and future cooperation.
