The United States and Republic of Korea to Hold Fifth Meeting of the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group

The United States of America and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will hold the fifth meeting of the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group (EDSCG) in Washington, D.C., on September 4, 2024.  The EDSCG is an important Alliance forum for comprehensive discussions on extended deterrence policy issues affecting the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific. ROK First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun and ROK Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Dr. Cho Chang Lae will lead the ROK delegation.  Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins, and Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Cara Abercrombie, will lead the U.S. delegation.
