The Swearing-In Ceremony and Inaugural Plenary Session Meeting of the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States
The President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States (PAC-ADE) will play an important role in enhancing dialogue between United States officials and the African Diaspora. The inaugural members, to whom Vice President Harris administered the oath of office today, have influenced U.S.-Africa relations through their careers in government, sports, creative industries, business, academia, social work, and faith-based activities and represent the diversity within the African Diaspora in the United States.
During the inaugural plenary session meeting, U.S. government officials and PAC-ADE Members discussed steps to elevate African diaspora engagement in the United States; the implementation of U.S. commitments at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit; advancing equity and opportunity for African diaspora communities; strengthening cultural, social, political, and economic ties between African communities, the global African diaspora, and the United States; and leveraging diaspora connectivity for public- and private-sector collaboration. We welcomed engagement from Members of Congress, civil society leaders, and prominent voices from the African diaspora community.
I look forward to working with the Advisory Council to elevate connections between the United States Government and the African diaspora.
