Special Representative McAuliffe Travels to Colombia and Costa Rica for the Launch of Three Climate Entrepreneurship Hubs
Special Representative for Global Partnerships Dorothy McAuliffe will travel to Bogotá, Colombia and San José, Costa Rica on April 3-4, to launch three Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) Hubs in Latin America. The launches follow the announcement of a Hub in Guatemala by Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment Jose W. Fernandez during a visit to Guatemala on March 18.
This expansion of the CCE network in Latin America was made possible by implementing partners PVBLIC Foundation and CleantechHUB, as well as university partners in-country that will host these makerspaces on-campus:
- In Bogotá – Universidad Externado de Colombia
- In San José – Universidad LCI Veritas
- In Guatemala City – Universidad Rafael Landívar
CCE is a public-private partnership that aims to address the climate crisis and contribute to economic empowerment by nurturing entrepreneurship focused on climate solutions. Over two years, the Hubs will drive climate entrepreneurship, create green jobs, and contribute to a zero-carbon sustainable and inclusive future.
The three CCE Hubs in Latin America aim to engage 1,000 relevant actors, involve 450 students in presenting green ideas, train 100 startup teams, and mentor 40-60 educators. Special emphasis will be placed on increasing the representation of underserved groups, including women, African-descendant populations, and indigenous peoples, in climate entrepreneurship.
