Maldives Independence Day – United States Department of State
On behalf of the United States of America, I want to extend my congratulations and best wishes to Maldives on your Independence Day this July 26th.
As you celebrate this important day, Maldives has many reasons to be proud. Your country is a strong supporter of democratic values and an important voice in maintaining the international rules-based order.
The relationship between the United States and Maldives is based on shared values of democracy, sovereignty, and prosperity.
Our ties continue to deepen, most notably through the re-establishment of the Maldivian embassy in Washington, DC. I was particularly pleased to welcome Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid last month to discuss ways to strengthen our partnership in critical economic and social areas.
May our two nations’ friendship continue to grow into the future. Congratulations again on your Independence Day.
