Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell met with Bruneian Foreign Minister II Dato Erywan Yusof today in Washington, DC during the fifth U.S.-Brunei Senior Officials’ Dialogue.

Deputy Secretary Campbell and Foreign Minister II Dato Erywan celebrated 40 years of robust diplomatic relations between the United States and Brunei and reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral security ties. The two parties announced plans to elevate the relationship to a Strategic Partnership to further cooperation on cyber and technology, economic and commercial, and other issues. The Deputy Secretary and Foreign Minister II also emphasized the value of increased cooperation on regional issues and raised partnership opportunities for delivering urgent humanitarian assistance to the people in Gaza.
