On behalf of the United States Department of State, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to the people of the Cook Islands on the occasion of your 59th anniversary of self-governance.
The enduring partnership between the Cook Islands and the United States has greatly benefited both our nations and the wider Pacific region. This year marks a significant milestone in our relationship, following the establishment of diplomatic relations in September 2023. Our robust collaboration is evident in our shared commitment to sustainable development and our joint efforts through the Pacific Islands Forum to address regional challenges and foster economic well-being.
As we look to the future, I am eager to further strengthen our partnership and the bonds of friendship between our peoples. I wish the people of the Cook Islands a joyous and memorable national celebration.
