Bahamas Independence Day – United States Department of State
On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my sincere congratulations to the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on 51 years of independence.
Over the past five decades, The Bahamas has been a steadfast partner and friend of the United States. Millions of Americans visit The Bahamas every year to enjoy its radiant sun, crystal blue waters, and sparkling Caribbean culture. Together we tackle urgent concerns, including irregular migration, transnational criminal activities, and the escalating climate crisis. The United States remains committed to deepening our partnership to ensure the long-term prosperity and security of our two nations.
As you mark your 51st year of independence, the United States and the American people extend their best wishes to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Bahamian people in the year ahead.
