United States Welcomes the Dominican Republic’s Signing of the Artemis Accords
The United States welcomes the Dominican Republic into the Artemis Accords as we strengthen collaboration in space, to include scientific research, education, and efforts to ensure the sustainable use of space.
On October 4, the Dominican Republic became the 44th signatory to the Artemis Accords. H.E. Sonia Guzmán, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United States of America, signed on behalf of the Dominican Republic in Washington, D.C.
The Dominican Republic is a key partner of the United States in the region. Together, we work to fight corruption, address climate change through PACC 2030, and deepen our strong economic ties through the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity. We are proud to stand with the Dominican Republic in these efforts and will continue to do so.
The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by the United States and seven other countries. They set out a practical set of principles to guide space exploration. The Dominican Republic joins 43 other nations – Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay – in affirming the Accords’ principles for sustainable civil space activity. The Department of State and NASA lead the United States’ outreach and implementation of the Accords.
