USAID Administrator Samantha Power on priorities for restoring Ukraine’s infrastructure
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power to discuss key issues of infrastructure restoration.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the United States of America, President Joseph Biden and the Congress for their continued bipartisan support for Ukraine. The President also noted the importance of meeting with Samantha Power and representatives of American energy, financial and insurance companies during his recent visit to the United States.
“That meeting was extremely productive. We discussed energy security, especially on the eve of winter, which is of key importance for Ukraine. I am grateful for organizing this dialogue with representatives of American companies,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The main topics of discussion were the strengthening of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the restoration of critical facilities, the strengthening of air defense and the construction of school shelters. The President emphasized the importance of support before the winter period and looked forward to further assistance from USAID.
Samantha Power confirmed that USAID is actively involved in the repair of 10 thousand school shelters across Ukraine, as well as supports the implementation of reforms and the development of small and medium businesses in the country.
The meeting reaffirmed the common goal of Ukraine and its international partners to restore infrastructure and ensure stability in the energy sector.
