Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources Geoffrey R. Pyatt will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania August 21-22 to meet with industry, academia, community leaders, and NGOs to highlight Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) work on energy security, the energy transition, and U.S. support for Ukraine’s energy sector.

On August 21, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will visit the headquarters of Westinghouse and Alcoa as well as the Shell Polymers plant. His visit will highlight American innovations in the energy sector, from decarbonization efforts to advanced nuclear reactor designs and renewable energy use in heavy industry with a view to relevance for international energy transition. After these site visits, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will deliver remarks at a reception hosted by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development for local civic, community, and business leaders.

On August 22, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will meet with leaders from Holtec, a key supplier to the nuclear sector, active as well in Ukraine. He will join a roundtable discussion with the Pittsburgh Committee on Foreign Relations to share insights on ENR priorities. Assistant Secretary Pyatt will then join faculty and other foreign policy experts at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Governance and Markets, a long-time partner of the Department of State, to discuss key energy issues.
