Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera.  Secretary Blinken expressed his deep sadness and extended his condolences to President Chakwera over the deaths of Vice President Saulos Chilima, former First Lady Ms. Shanil Dzimbiri, and the other victims of the plane crash on June 10, 2024.  The Secretary underscored the United States’ support for the Government of Malawi, the Malawi Defence Force, and the people of Malawi during this difficult time.
