Assistant Secretary Sison’s Travel to Malta and Japan

Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Michele Sison will travel to Valletta, Malta, and Tokyo, Japan, June 17-21.  Assistant Secretary Sison will meet with Maltese Foreign Minister Ian Borg and other Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade officials to discuss a range of UN Security Council issues and priorities.  She will also meet with representatives from the International Organization for Migration and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to discuss each organizations’ regional efforts.  Assistant Secretary Sison will also meet with Steven Hill, the Executive Secretary of the International Institute of Justice, to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration.

In Tokyo, she will meet with Japanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs / Director-General, Foreign Policy Bureau, Kobe Yasuhiro and other ministry officials to discuss UN Security Council coordination and preparations for the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week in September.
