Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.  They discussed the comprehensive ceasefire deal now on the table that would secure the release of all hostages, significantly increase humanitarian assistance, and enable the return of displaced persons to areas throughout Gaza.  The Secretary underscored that the proposal would greatly benefit both Palestinians and Israelis. He reiterated that Hamas should accept the proposal without further delay.

Secretary Blinken welcomed reform announcements by the Palestinian Authority and discussed with Prime Minister Mustafa the need for full and consistent implementation of those reforms to achieve the aspirations of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. He reaffirmed the United States’ support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel.
