Shelling of the energy sector: Pavlo Kostyuk calls on partners to unite to help Ukraine
Ukraine needs urgent attention from the world and key partners to restore the country’s energy sector after the March attacks
This was emphasized by the founder of the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund, Pavlo Kostyuk.
He noted that after the Russian shelling in a number of regions have already experienced power outages. And one of the country’s largest cities, Kharkiv, has been left without energy infrastructure and is powered by sources in other regions.
Experts predict that blackouts could become even more widespread in the summer.
Thermal and hydroelectric generation facilities have suffered the most. Currently, there is a need for high-voltage equipment, autotransformers, and equipment for repairs, the relevant ministry said.
“According to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko, we are currently collecting information from companies on the needs to overcome the consequences of Russian attacks. But the shelling continues. That is why I call on the entire civilized world to join forces to help Ukraine overcome the consequences of hostile attacks and find ways to secure its generation facilities in the future,” said Pavlo Kostyuk.
He also thanked Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine Bridget Brink, who assured that the United States is ready to help restore the Ukrainian energy sector and prepare for the next heating season.
