U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Ambassador Mike Hammer is traveling to Kenya June 27-30 to consult with regional and international partners on supporting continued implementation of the November 2022 Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA) in northern Ethiopia.

The United States is committed to working with the African Union and the other observers – the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Eastern Africa and the United Nations – to support the Ethiopian government and the Tigrayan Interim Regional Administration in achieving a lasting peace, including through an effective disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration program for ex-combatants, as well as transitional justice and accountability.
