Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, has arrived at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS).
He arrived at the office of the agency at 7:45 pm in the company of two governors, who did not want to be named.
The DSS had invited Suleman to its office over an alleged inciting sermon he delivered in his church.
A fortnight ago, the preacher told his congregation that he had ordered his security aides to kill herdsmen who come around the premises because he learnt they were after him.
And last Wednesday, DSS operatives invaded Suleman’s hotel room in Ekiti state with the intention of arresting him. But Ayodele Fayose, governor of the state, came to his rescue.
After its failed attempt to arrest the preacher, the DSS then asked him to report to its office in Abuja at 10am on Monday.
However, Suleman arrived at the DSS office long after the scheduled time. We learnt that Lawal Daura, director-general of the DSS, would be interrogating the preacher himself.
An impeccable source told journalists that Apostle Suleman arrived at the DSS office at about 8:00pm on Monday.
“He is there now. Those who accompanied him include some Governors, Ministers. I cannot disclose names now.
“But during the day, some leaders of CAN and PFN held series of meeting with Apostle. I’m not sure they will be at the interrogation room.”
Asked why the meeting fixed for 10am delayed for hours, the source said this was because “the DG of DSS will be the one to personally question Apostle hence the shift in time.”
Our correspondent gathered that the DSS, despite already mounted barricades, has further cordoned off its complex stretching about a kilometre.
Also, security personnel in front of the Yellow House, was increased. This may not be unconnected with expectation that Apostle Suleman’s supporters may storm the vicinity.
Earlier on Monday, Suleman stated the DSS did the right thing by inviting him for interrogation.
Suleman, who stated this while briefing newsmen in Abuja, said “I presume the right thing was done. They have been in touch with me to come and that is why I am in Abuja, so that I can see them”.
According to him, his recent statement where he asked his members to kill any herdsman around his church was based on information from a reliable source that herdsmen were coming to attack him.
He said that he stood by his statement on self defence.
“I was talking in my personal capacity on information from a reliable source that certain people in the capacity of herdsmen were coming to attack me and I told the people around me that if it happens they should defend themselves”, he said.
Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that DSS had perfected plans to detain and prosecute Apostle Suleman and General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide International (Winners’ Chapel International), Bishop David Oyedepo.
Fayose, chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, on Sunday warned that the alleged plan could throw the country into an unprecedented religious crisis.
Recall that Suleman on Sunday challenged the Federal Government to compel Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai to produce Fulani herdsmen to whom money was paid to disabuse the minds of Nigerians that Christians are not the target of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
