Israeli billionaire Beny Steinmetz has been arrested on suspicion of corruption, police said on Monday.
The diamond billionaire has been placed under house arrest until January 2, 2017, and has been forbidden from going into his office.
The suspicions reportedly relate to deals made by Steinmetz’s company in the West African state of Guinea.
Yuval Sassoon lawyer for the billionaire, said it was a recurrence of a previous suit brought by the Guinean government, according to Daily Newspaper Haaretz.
Steinmetz’s firm BSG did not respond to the latest allegations.
The suit was aimed at confiscating mining exploration rights previously won by BSG, he said.
Security officials in the U. S., and Switzerland were also involved in the investigation into Steinmetz, police said.
