The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja11, has advised political office holders to rule with the fear of God and bequeath a good name for the next generation.
Ooni said this when the Senator Representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Sen. Ajayi Borofice visited him on Friday, in Ile-Ife.
Oba Ogunwusi said political office holders should always think of what the future generation would benefit from their rule.
The highly respected monarch said politicians such as Awolowo were still being eulogised because they left good legacies.
Earlier, Borofice said he came to thank the Ooni for his effort to unify the Yoruba race. “If the Yorubas are intact, Nigeria will be better,’’ he said.
High profile politicians, including former President, Olusegun Obasanjo have expressed their strong support for the unity move by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja ll.
Chief Obasanjo gave his strong backing recently when he paid homage to Ooni Ogunwusi in his palace last weekend. He explained that the move by the Ooni was important for the progress of Yorubaland.
The former president, who described Oba Ogunwusi as his father and father of the Yoruba people, said he was pleased that Ife people did not pick a wrong person to occupy the throne.
He said it was an honour for the Ooni to pay a visit to anybody, advising those Oba Ogunwusi had visited to reciprocate the gesture by supporting him in his effort to bring unity to Yoruba race.
